Like those above – this has been driving me crazy, but I’d ignored it until now. I’ve just finished writing my first book and I’m sitting here doing proofing and I finally snapped. Even at the end of 2011 your tip is helping the Microsoft frustrated Max Users. I’ve probably been procrastinating, but I’m glad this is solved. Really bad show Microsoft – worse still that we had to rely on you, conrad.

That revealed the Apple window buttons so I can red/X the dialog box out. But I had to update the original Office 2004 to rev 11.5 before I could even find com.microsoft.Office.prefs.plist. This may be because I also have Office 2008 (almost worthless) on this MacBook Pro. I can’t believe (or can I?) MS shipped Office 2004 with this bug! BTW, used Pref Setter app – worked great.
